Tiles / Vindobona

Stamped Roman Tiles from Vindobona

This database deals with Roman tiles that were found – nearly exclusivly – in the metropolitan area of ancient Vindobona. For specialists stamped tiles form an inestimable historical source.

Together with archaeological / epigraphical data basic archeometric analysis of the tiles is made available, the data are integrated seamlessly.

The web databank is based on the work of Barnabas Lörinzc (University of Budapest) und Martin Mosser (Stadtarchäologie Wien).

Since Autumn 2005 the database has been maintained by the CHC workgroup.
